Why nothing lasted

Most moisturizers add water. Your skin is losing lipids.

Your barrier is held together by fat. Sebum production slows from your mid-twenties on, and drops further with age, harsh cleansers, retinoids, hormonal shifts, and dry air. When the lipids run short, water leaves faster than any cream can put it back. That is why a lotion feels wonderful for twenty minutes and leaves you tighter than before.

What most creams do

Deliver water, held together by emulsifiers and silicones. The water evaporates. The film sits on top. The barrier is unchanged.

What tallow does

Delivers the fatty acids the barrier is short of. It melts near skin temperature, softening into the lipid layer instead of forming a film over it.

The mechanism

Your skin recognizes this kind of fat.

Human sebum is built from oleic, palmitic, stearic, and palmitoleic acids. Grass-fed tallow carries the same fatty acids in broadly similar proportions. Skin does not have to work to integrate a lipid that resembles its own.

The questions we actually get

I tried tallow before and it broke me out.

Usually that is quality or formulation, not tallow itself. Many are rendered from conventional suet or loaded with essential oils that irritate a compromised barrier. Ours is grass-fed, pure rendered, eight ingredients, no synthetic fragrance. If tallow has reliably broken you out before, patch test for three days first.

Will it feel greasy at night?

It is a balm, so it goes on richer than a cream, but the emu oil is unusually absorbent and warming it between your fingers changes the texture completely. On damp skin, in a small amount, it absorbs rather than sits.

Does it smell like beef?

No. Properly rendered tallow is neutral. The organic grapefruit peel oil gives a faint citrus note that fades quickly. No synthetic fragrance at all.

Can I use it on my kids?

Eight recognizable ingredients, no alcohol, parabens, phthalates, or silicones, which is why many customers use it on everyone in the house. Patch test first, and check with your pediatrician if there is a diagnosed skin condition.

How long does a jar last?

Six to eight weeks with twice-daily facial use, faster head to toe through a cold winter. If you go through it steadily, the subscription saves 15% and you can pause or cancel anytime.

Where does the tallow come from?

Farms practicing organic methods without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, from suppliers who commit to fair wages and safe conditions. It is an upcycled by-product; cattle are never raised for tallow alone.

What if it arrives melted?

Tallow softens near skin temperature, so a hot mailbox can melt and re-set it with a different surface texture. Not damaged, formula unaffected. Leave it somewhere cool for a few hours.

Is it safe during pregnancy?

Formulated without ingredients commonly avoided during pregnancy. As with any skincare product, consult your healthcare provider if you have specific concerns.
